Are you with your company in Nafplio and your appetite draws lambs and chops in the oil paste? You don't have to drive to the villages to find them. Stavlos has it all!
In the early winter of 2014-15 we opened at Profitis Ilias Street a traditional Greek tavern for gourmets, for those who know how to appreciate good meat, a place that did not exist in the city of Nafplio and immediately became a haven! "... the vision that became a hangout!": This is exactly what the banner stands outside the cafeteria Stavlos and if you read below you will see it all condensed.
They brought the village to town and went to town
Its look turns you on decades immediately while giving you this familiar feel of the village, even though you are in the city. An elongated two-storey stone building with its yellow shutters, its balcony upstairs ...
Entering you are warmly and humorously welcomed by Fotini, the owner who together with her husband Nikos made their vision here a reality.
The designer Eleni Vlachou managed to combine intimacy and austerity with the modern mood.
The element of stone on the floor and walls as well as the wood on the ceiling dominate.
The tablecloths are lined with checkered tablecloths in various colors and the blue and some scattered red and yellow coffee table chairs wait for a while to fill up.
On top of them hang elegant lamps but also a strainer and a teapot in the role of lamp!
The large kitchen furniture was ordered by the carpenter to look like the napkins still held by the grandmothers in the villages.
The fireplace, which could not be missed by a thrak tavern, is dressed in colorful traditional tiles.
A little further up the shelves on the wall, they are home to old teasers, a liqueur decanter and its glasses, a glass bowl filled with donuts (you can "steal" fearlessly), jars of spices. In the windows the flowers are fresh, just like the mood of Nikos, Fotini, Mr. Nikos their baker ...
To make a place for locals and tourists alike to eat "coarse" (lamb in the pasta), as one would have to go to a village tavern outside Nafplio.
The meats are, of course, local from the mountainous Argolis and Arcadia and are selected one by one.
At Stavlos you will find lamb, yoghurt and lamb on charcoal in ribs, roasted, or even pretzel - which you rarely find in the Peloponnese - but also hourly meats, such as burgers, kneads, kebab, chicken fillet and lamb.
The good thing is that we serve the ribs in the oil paste, which is very popular in the world as it relaxes and eats properly: with hands! Handmade and organic.
